Product Description

Silane Gas , SiH4 , Silicon Hydride Gas Used For Solar

Description:

The silane is a odorless, colorless gas at normal temperature and pressure. Ignited at room temperature, in the air or halogen gas in the explosive combustion. Even if the other gas dilution, if the concentration is not low enough. Still spontaneous combustion. Silane in the argon containing 2%, 2.5% nitrogen, hydrogen containing 1%, it can still catch fire. Silane concentration less than 1% when the non-flammable, more than 3% spontaneous combustion, 1% to 3% may burn.

The combustion products are powdered silica and water, the flame temperature is low, and 500 ~ 600 ℃ when containing 3% silane in argon. Stable at room temperature, began to decompose at 300 ℃, 600 ℃ decomposition accelerated, 1000 ℃ when fully decomposed into silicon and hydrogen.

In neutral or acidic water is relatively stable, but easy to decompose in alkaline aqueous solution.

4. Applications:

Several industrial and medical applications exist for silane and functionalized silanes.

1 silanes are used as coupling agents to adhere fibers such as glass fibers and carbon fibers to certain polymer matrices, stabilizing the composite material.
2 They can also be used to couple a bio-inert layer on a titanium implant.
3 Other applications include water repellents, masonry protection, control of graffiti, applying polycrystalline silicon layers on silicon wafers when manufacturing semiconductors, and sealants.
4 Silane is also used in supersonic combustion ramjets to initiate combustion in the compressed air stream. As it can burn using carbon dioxide as an oxidizer it is a candidate fuel for engines operating on Mars.
5 Silane and similar compounds containing Si—H bonds are used as reducing agents in organic and organometallic chemistry.
6 Silane methacrylates are used in dentistry as part of tooth-colored, composite filling material. Silane methacrylates act as a coupling agent between the hard, silicate-based, ceramic filler and the organic, resin-based oligomer matrix.
